Ragtime music, traditionally played primarily on the piano, is a genre which enjoyed popularity in the early 20th century. It is characterised by a syncopated, or “ragged” rhythm in the melody, played over a steady bassline. Ragtime was preceded by its close relative, the cakewalk – a similarly syncopated dance.

This collection presents five such pieces arranged for ukulele and bass some well-known, and some less so. The ukulele and bass parts are shown on opposite pages of each double page spread of this collection, allowing the musicians to play from the same music stand, and for the student to easily cross-reference the two parts.
