Beware of Scribes - Luke 20:46
Delta Blues Number by The Ever Present iT!
[Verse 1]
Jesus spoke, and His voice was clear,
"Beware of the scribes, their hearts insincere.
They walk in long robes, acting like grace,
Marketplace greetings, looking for praise.
[Chorus]
Oh, they seek the seats, the highest place,
Banquets and honor, they long to embrace.
But their prayers are long, just for show,
Widows they rob, their judgment will grow.
[Verse 2]
They take from the weak, the widows' homes,
While wearing a mask of holy tones.
Their deeds are dark, their hearts are cold,
Condemnation to be hold.
[Chorus]
Oh, they seek the seats, the highest place,
Banquets and honor, they long to embrace.
But their prayers are long, just for show,
Widows they rob, their judgment will grow.
[Bridge]
Beware the pride that hides in disguise,
For God sees the heart, and outward lies.
The humble will rise, the proud will fall,
True honor is found in justice for all
[Outro]
So heed the words that Jesus said,
Walk in His light, not in pride instead.
For greater condemnation waits ahead,
For those who live, for the praise of men.
[Refrain]
Beware of Scribes,
Beware.
Beware of Scribes,
Beware.
