Ghetto Christmas With You
Eternity Harold was raised deep in the hood of Nashville, where Christmas is “you get what you get, now don’t ask for s*** else.”
Her mother, Mari, is a single mother and gave her children what she could. The holidays are best spent together, rather than having an abundance of Christmas gifts, at least that’s what Eternity was brought up to believe. Poverty changed Eternity’s life! She vowed that when she became an adult, she’d make more than enough money to never be envious of others and their materialistic objects again. She found wealth, as she promised. What she didn’t imagine she'd find was that she’d fall in love too.
Eternity takes herself on a trip to London where she meets the love of her life, Daniel. They’ve been dating for five years now, and Eternity has been dropping hints about wanting to get married. There’s just one problem; Daniel’s never met Eternity’s family. Eternity’s cultural differences between her and Daniel’s families are so great, she doesn’t know if her relationship will survive a visit with her family, but Daniel gives her an ultimatum.
He meets her parents, or he’s walking. Desperate to save her relationship, she brings Daniel home to meet her family, and she’s almost sure she’ll regret it. Every family dynamic is different. The Harolds' dynamic highlights Uncle Jamie, who claims to have lost his foot in the “war”, Auntie Kat who still likes to get her groove on, regardless of the fact she’s seven decades old, and cousin Cleo who has more kids than a twenty-two-year old should. This Christmas is gonna get real ghetto when London meets the 615.

***** Eternity from a young age are like most kids who grew up poor, always dreaming of better but unfortunately her mother who was always helping family did the best she can. Mari I loved her rawness she told it like it is and although I felt like she enabled her siblings I understood at the same time. Daniel it seems as if he was the missing piece he definitely let Eternity know when she was wrong. Pinky needs her own story...
***** I get where Eternity was coming from. We all have ghetto family members but when everyone in your immediate family is ghetto, it might be harder to want to bring new people into the mix. She didn't handled it well with Daniel though considering they had been together for 5 years and that was his first time meeting her family. Eternity and her mother's relationship mirrors alot of mother and daughter relationships in the Black community. Her brother Jamel is the true definition of someone who had it all and didnt know what to do with it. I loved how Daniel was firm yet loving and understanding with Eternity and her momma and the entire family in general. This was a really good Christmas story that was real, honest, and still loving at the same time.
**** Great portrayal of family and especially a mother/daughter relationship. I definitely related to Eternity's desire to become more and not repeat the cycle of poverty and single parenthood. She failed to understand her mother's reasoning for the things she did. I admired her mother Mari, though - despite her 'ghettoness', she took care of family and she recognized her own failings and pushed Eternity to succeed. Eternity was filled with dread when it came time to introduce her fiance, Daniel, to her family. He was non-judgemental and helped Eternity understand the wealth of love her mother had for her and accept where she came from. Great read.
***** If I wasn’t in the Christmas spirit before I most definitely am now!!! I absolutely loved this story as it touches close to home! I don’t think this story could have been any better than was! Girl, you did your thang with this one here!! If you love a good love story then this is one you most definitely need to read!!
**** I enjoyed this read. Eternity had a lot of growing up to do and I'm glad Daniel was patient with her. I was happy when everybody got her right on together and spoke facts to her. Mari was hilarious lol. It would be interesting to see how things play out with Pinky and Jamel. Good read.
***** You did it with this book!
Loved this story glad that Eternity came around. Who wouldn't love a mom like Mari. Even though her family members weren't of the traditional sense loved them all. I hope Jamel gets closure so he can stop looking for love in the wrong places as it definitely will not work with Pinky. Valentine's wedding book I need more hint hint 😅
***** Damn it’s sad that it took Eternity that long to realize she was the problem all them years! I understand she wanted more than her mother could give but she had love a lot of kids wished for. I’m glad her and Daniel are getting along and the family as well.
***** Eternity and Daniel were made for each other. I'm glad her and Mari came to an understanding and working on their relationship. Now, I see there is a part 2 or a standalone in the works. Since we need the wedding and then what her brother real problem is with Eternity.
