How to write a successful STP application (2026)

Founded in 2022, STP.Blog was set up with the aim of creating resources for prospective STP students. STP.Blog has been established by a number of STP students across a range of different specialisms. We encountered many difficulties during our applications due to a lack of resources available at the time. It was so hard to find information about the specialisms, especially what the day-to-day job would involve. Everyone knows that STP is a highly competitive programme but there is so little online about how to construct the perfect application or how to practice for SJT’s.

With the number of applicants this year predicted to be over 7,000 it has never been more important to submit a clear, detailed and reflective application that outlines your strengths, interests and the uniqueness you can bring to the role

In 2024, we released a guide titled ‘How to write a successful STP application’ which received a great positive response. However, in 2025, the application questions changed and we felt it was necessary to create a new guide to reflect these questions.

We set out to contact a handful of applicants who were successful in the most recent 2025 applications and gather their thoughts, feedback and advice to kindly share in this guide.
