Classic Fair Isle motifs get an update in this modern, slightly slouchy beanie. Named for a character in the PBS show, Home Fires, this hat was inspired by the motifs and colors of vintage Fair Isle sweaters and vests from the 1940s.

Skill Level: Intermediate. Skills include stranded colorwork, increasing and decreasing in the round.

Sizes: S, M, L. Model wears a size M.

Yarn: Fingering Weight Yarn: 160 (187, 214) yds [147 (171, 196)m] MC, 20 (23, 26) yds [18, 21, 24)m] CC1, 23 (27, 31) yds [21 (25, 28)m] CC2, 2 (2, 2) yds/ [2 (2, 2)m] CC3.

Gauge: 32 sts/ 42 rnds = 4 in [10 cm] in St st
32 sts/ 36.5 rnds = 4 in [10 cm] in stranded colorwork

Needles: US #2 [2.75mm] 16 in [40cm] and 24 in [60cm] circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. US #2 [2.75mm] dpns for hat crown.

Notions: stitch marker, tapestry needle.

Notes: Hat is constructed from the bottom up in the round, with only 2 colors used per round.
