The song was composed by Chris inspired by the responses of the pupils of Kirkby Woodhouse School to a session on homelessness by the charity. During 2017 over 300 volunteer singers and instrumentalists signed up to record their parts for the song. Each choir, singer or musician was recorded separately or remotely and pieced back together in the recording studio and the resulting track was mastered by Ian Jones at Abbey Road.
A CD of the song raised many thousands of pounds for the charity and it continues to be performed every year by choirs, including the choir of Southwell Minster.
