Your Dry Bones Will Live Again

Have you ever looked at a situation in your life and thought, “There is no way this can change”?

Perhaps something you once hoped for has died. Maybe a dream that was once alive in your heart now seems impossible. Perhaps a relationship has broken down, your finances have become difficult, your health has brought disappointment, or you have prayed for something for so long that you have almost stopped expecting an answer.

Maybe you feel spiritually dry. You still love God, you still pray, you still go to church, but deep inside you feel weary and empty. Your joy may have disappeared, your strength may have faded, and you may be wondering whether God can breathe new life into you again.

If this sounds familiar, I want you to know something:

God has not forgotten you.

Your situation may look like a valley of dry bones, but God sees what you cannot see. The prophet Ezekiel was taken by the Spirit of God into a valley filled with dry bones. The bones were not merely scattered; they were very dry. They represented a situation that appeared completely dead and beyond recovery.

Then God asked Ezekiel a remarkable question:

“Son of man, can these bones live?”

Ezekiel replied:

“Sovereign LORD, you alone know.” — Ezekiel 37:3

What happened next is one of the most powerful demonstrations of God’s restoring power in Scripture. God told Ezekiel to speak to the bones. As Ezekiel obeyed, there was a noise. The bones came together. Tendons and flesh appeared. Skin covered them. But there was still no breath in them. Then God told Ezekiel to prophesy to the breath. When Ezekiel obeyed, breath entered the bodies, and they came to life and stood on their feet—a vast army
