This Summer Directed Drawing booklet has 10 summer-themed step-by-step drawing lessons for K to 5 students: a flamingo, starfish, bumblebee, bird flying, pufferfish, octopus, ice cream, crab, pineapple and a beach day scene. It suits late spring and June art classes, summer school, homeschool and seasonal units.

Each drawing alternates a step-by-step guide with a student drawing page, so you can print it as a booklet or use pages individually. Directed drawing gives students structure during the busy end-of-year months, with clear visual steps, predictable success, built-in differentiation and display-ready artwork.

WHAT STUDENTS LEARN

The lessons build line quality and control, shape recognition, proportion awareness, observation skills, drawing confidence and creative expression. Students also strengthen fine motor skills and spatial awareness, and work with the elements of art: line, shape, color, form, space, texture and value.

HOW TO USE IT

Print double-sided and staple into booklets, print individual pages for sketchbooks, or project the steps and have students draw on blank paper. Students can outline in black felt or fine liner before coloring.

You choose the coloring medium: crayons, markers, colored pencils, watercolor, tempera or oil pastels, or rotate mediums to build technique variety.
