Candy has ALWAYS made me happy - especially when it is colorful and eye-catching, like the old-fashioned candy sticks that seem to pop up everywhere during the holidays! Seeing the bright stripes of color and imagining all kinds of juicy flavors puts a smile on my face. The Striped Candy Shawl is a great accessory to add to your wardrobe if you want to take a bit of that “kid in a candy shop” excitement with you throughout your day! This asymmetrical triangular shawl is worked in fingering weight yarn and consists of 27 stripes worked in 24 different colors. Each stripe is worked in one of four stitch patterns of primarily knit and purl stitches, with basic increases and decreases used for shawl shaping.

This pattern was originally designed to be used with 24 mini-skeins from the Southern Skeins Sock Advent Calendar. 24 scraps of other fingering weight yarn may be used as well. This is a great opportunity to experiment with color placement in unusual ways!

Size: Longest edge is around 90” / 229 cm; Depth is around 17” / 43 cm. The final measurements will vary based on how gently or aggressively you choose to block.

Yarn: The sample uses 24 Southern Skeins Sock Advent Calendar mini-skeins 46 yds / 42 m each (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon; 0.35 oz / 10 g). If you’re using other yarn, you will need 24 different colors of fingering weight yarn of around 46 yds / 42 m each.

If your gauge closely matches the sample gauge, you should have a bit of yarn left over from each skein; however, Page 14 contains suggestions for how to modify the size of stripes if your gauge is a bit different. Additionally, Page 14 also lists a few ideas for how to use up the leftover bits of yarn while completing your shawl!
