The Ka-Bar Single Mark Knife was adopted by the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in November of 1942 and ultimately produced in 1943 for use during World War 2. The knife was designed in response to demand from soldiers requesting an improved knife for combat and utility. The Ka-Bar Single Mark Knife is manufactured by the company Ka-Bar Knives Inc. (previously Union Cutlery Co.) in Olean, New York as shown by the stamp on the base of the blade. This piece of equipment was utilized in numerous conflicts including WW2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and others up to the modern day.
