MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS:

Tierra Destiny Reid is an agent for change. Not because of her accomplishments, but because of her continual commitment to healing, growth, and progression. Tierra believes that each of us has the ability to tap into our own power, share our trials to serve humanity, and decide to evolve. As we change, so do the people and world around us. It is a continual process.

TDR is the oldest of two girls born to a single mother at 17 years old. During her childhood, she was molded by her mother who worked 3 jobs, and the spirit of entrepreneurship was embedded into her and her sister at this time.

Because of her indomitable will to succeed, Tierra was able her to work three jobs while attending the University of Georgia, start a gift basket business (her first LLC!) in space rented from a local barber, hire an ambitious friend as her first contractor, and graduate with the tools to begin her corporate career.

As an executive, TDR worked with national product retailers and household brands to negotiate multi-million-dollar contracts, forecast sales, and improve marketing strategies. These experiences with companies like Macy’s, Victoria’s Secret, Proctor & Gamble, Nike, Christian Dior, and MAC Cosmetics allowed her to further develop her business acumen, especially in regard to consumer spending, customer relations, and marketing.

Eventually, Tierra and 850 other executives found themselves facing a layoff and company merger. Tierra saw this as A WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY to say YES to her dream of becoming her own boss! After opening her brick and mortar boutique on a shoestring budget, Tierra quickly exceeded the six-figure mark in gross sales and her break-even point. Her exponential growth was partly due to her low-cost opening strategy, which allowed her to begin her boutique with cash, no credit cards or investors necessary! Incredibly, Craigslist and used fixtures allowed her to grow the business without the stress of drowning in debt.

Since launching TDR Brands International, TDR has hosted countless intimate events to serve communities from coast to coast and cultivated an even deeper respect and love for the women of the world. Her live events, consulting firm, and boutique publishing company, which has produced over 30 books to date including Tierra’s The Power of Peace in a Pause, have allowed her to share what she has learned with other aspiring entrepreneurs.

In 2012, a significant, virtual mentor in Tierra’s life became a tangible, real-life connection. Oprah Winfrey followed her on Twitter and this resulted in TDR’s invitation to an intimate LA luncheon with Ms. Winfrey and becoming an OWN ambassador that hosts local discussions and viewing parties for the OWN Network. TDR could not believe that she was actually invited to attend Ms. Winfrey’s 64th birthday party, but this reconfirmed that dreams truly do come true.

Beyond the social connections, Oprah Winfrey’s friendship also inspired Tierra to continue healing and to grow her annual retreats in South Africa, Johannesburg or Cape Town, since 2016. The support of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls allowed TDR and attendees to engage with the young girls and further INSPIRE her mission of creating an international gateway of support and connection. Amazingly, TDR Brands International launched the When Women Heal platform with a round table that has grown into a Global Leadership Activism Summit. This year, leaders and constituents will travel to Atlanta from South Africa, and other regions of the United States for an event.

Most importantly, Tierra is a grateful mother of two young authors. She loves to travel and to meet and inspire new people all over the globe. TDR has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine We Hear You Column, Good Morning America’s “Work Spot,” Lifetime Moms, SUCCESS Magazine, Best Self Magazine, and more. She also covered the red carpet at the Oprah Winfrey Magazine, “O You Conference,” continues to support several charity efforts, and believes that learning to trust yourself is one of the greatest gifts of all.

In sum, TDR has built her brand on the cornerstones of love, community, positivity, and undeniable hard work. She is an advocate of honoring your emotions and those of others and is on a relentless mission to empower and encourage others to reap the remarkable results they deserve. She is full of energy and passionate about those she loves.  For her it is the people that matter.  She believes that her body is indeed her temple and is an avid proponent of a healthy lifestyle and fitness! Health is wealth!

While professional success has been gratifying, she believes she has no greater or more rewarding role than that of mother to her beautiful daughter, Gabrielle Renee. “I am because she is and being her mother is my number one priority.”

There are 2 values she holds dear – authenticity and faith. She believes that we are all perfectly imperfect and embracing our experiences both good and bad shape who we are. Living your life as your most authentic self, without apology, is the most empowering and freeing feeling ever.

Lastly her faith is the essence of who she is. It has sustained her through life's experiences and is fundamental to who she is and the way she approaches life. Her mantra is that every day is a gift and acknowledging that and applying it to how you live can be life changing! She believes that with God all things are possible, that miracles happen every day, dreams do come true and that attitude is a choice.  Choose to be positive, choose to be happy, choose joy!
