.WHO THIS IS FOR This is for you if you have dieted for years. You sort foods into good and bad. You count the calories. You feel guilty after eating the "wrong" thing. You have not felt relaxed around food in a long time.

THE PROBLEM Would you be surprised if I told you that much of your struggle with eating happens in your mind, and has little to do with the food itself? The thoughts get loud. You reach for the biscuits or the chocolate, and you tell yourself you will do better tomorrow, or that you have had a bad day and deserve a break.

WHAT IT'S COSTING YOU Afterwards comes the regret. You feel like you have no self control, and your self esteem takes a tumble. Then it starts again. You don't need to listen to every thought. You don't need to believe all of them either. There are specific tools for letting go of unhelpful dialogues, and I'm going to show you.

WHAT THIS IS

Quiet the Food Thoughts is a set of 3 short guided audios. I’m a clinical psychologist, and these are practical tools I use to help women settle the mind and step back from the constant stream of food thoughts. You press play, you follow along, and you practice.

What you get

  1. Breathe and Count. (05.38) Use your breath and a simple count to connect with your body. Afterwards, you notice what kinds of thoughts showed up (things to do, the past, food). Simple, and very difficult at the same time.
  2. Let the Thoughts Float. (06.41) Your breath is the anchor, and a visualisation helps your thoughts drift away. If visualising isn’t for you, there’s an alternative built into the exercise.
  3. One Small Food, Fully. (05.02) Take a single raisin or cherry tomato and give it your full attention. Slow down, and enjoy every part of eating it.

Bonus: the Mindful Practice Diary. A formatted diary (PDF) for noticing what happens as you practice.

IS THIS FOR ME?

  • I've never meditated. Is this for me? Yes. The first audio is the simplest one I teach, and you can't get it wrong. I can't visualise.
  • Will the second audio work for me? Yes. Some people find visualising easy and others don't, so try it out and use the focus on the breath as an alternative in the exercise.
  • Will this help me lose weight? These audios are about your relationship with your thoughts around food. I don't promise anything about weight.
  • Is this a replacement for treatment? No. If you are struggling with your eating, please reach out for support alongside these audios.
