STATE Finance is a complete personal finance system built like an old computer terminal. Every screen shows the big numbers on top and the detail below, with plain codes that tell you where you stand. You type into the light cells; everything else is calculated for you.

STATE Budget

• Current Expenses: everything that repeats, including subscriptions, annual fees, bills and the cards that pay them. It totals what every month has to cover before you spend a dollar.
• Budget Template: your normal month. + NEW MONTH copies it into each new month.
• Every month: log what you spend against the plan. You see what's left to spend, your net savings and your save rate, and a clear answer each month: does the plan balance?

STATE Debt Tracker

• Debts: every card and loan, with one debt-free date. It shows what each debt needs per month to be gone by that date, the month each one is paid off at your current payment, and where an extra dollar should go.
• Key Dates: promo rates ending, annual fees, rate changes and card renewals, with a calendar so nothing that costs money slips by.
• Account Setup: what each account is for, autopay, annual fees and the alerts every account should have.

STATE Reports

• Year to Date: every month against your plan. Ahead or behind, why, and where the year ends at this pace.
• Spending: the budget lines that keep running over, and the ones you could lower.
• Debt Paydown: how fast your debt is really falling, month by month, and when it's gone at that pace.

Reports only reads your files. It never changes them.

WHAT YOU NEED

• A Mac or a PC with a modern web browser. Chrome or Edge are recommended because they save straight back to your file. Safari and Firefox work too; they save a fresh copy to your Downloads folder.
• About 20 minutes to set up. Have your recent statements on hand: balances, APRs, payments and due dates.
• Not made for phones or tablets.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Unzip the download and keep the STATE folder somewhere safe.
2. Enter your numbers, or import your Excel workbooks, and save your two data files.
3. Each week, log what posted and update your balances, in about ten minutes.
4. Once a month, copy your debt file into the archive folder, then open STATE Reports and take what it shows into next month's plan.

LICENSE

One household: you and the people who live with you, on any number of computers. Please don't share or repost the files outside your household.
