An essential part of Blitzed is its ability to span generations in its celebration of music. While the crucial Blitz era is an important foundation stone, it’s also healthy to look back into the iconic venue’s own inspirations as well as appreciate emerging acts.

To that end, this issue casts an eye on David Bowie’s singular creation Ziggy Stardust as the album that sports his name celebrates its 50th anniversary. Bowie remains a singular creative force that’s managed to influence several generations of musicians – as well as making his mark on modern culture.

We feature an exclusive interview with xPropaganda’s Claudia Brücken and Susanne Freytag, exploring the story behind their new album The Heart Is Strange. There’s also our special feature on Kraftwerk’s legacy, and we cast an eye over the German band’s story from the perspective of Karl Bartos.

But the rest of the issue also finds time to dart around the broad spectrum of music with features on Banarama, Erasure, Neu!, Toyah, Howard Jones and Shakespears Sister.

The live music scene is also returning to rude health this year, and our team provides commentary on ABC, The Human League, Pet Shop Boys, Grace Jones and Paul Weller. Meanwhile, if you’re a fan of cult Netflix series Stranger Things, then the Blitzed special rundown of its best musical moments should be illuminating.
