A Trip Around Lake Ontario On A Bicycle is not a simple guide book of the sort that tells you how to get from Point A to Point B, although it can also be used in that way. It is more of a chronicle of the author’s state of mind as he made his way around the second smallest of the Great Lakes with a copy of David McFadden’s book, A Trip Around Lake Ontario, in his pannier. The book is a lament for the end of a relationship and partially joyous realization that long distance bicycling tours have the ability to heal wounds and provide mental clarity in a way that few other things do. Written in the summer of 2003, and out-of-print for several years, it has recently been revised and re-issued.
