The Dress Code for the Muslim Woman began as a heartfelt gift from the renowned hadith scholar Muhammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī to a dear friend who requested him to clarify the Islamic dress of Muslim women. As his friend's wedding approached, Shaykh al-Albānī decided to hasten his response to him and begin writing a treatise on the topic as a wedding gift, hoping to provide clear guidance according to the Quran and the Sunnah. Drawing upon the Qur'an, authentic hadith, and the understanding of the early scholars, Sheikh al-Albānī examines the conditions of proper hijab and addresses the long-standing discussion surrounding the niqab (face veil), presenting the evidences for his view that covering the face is recommended but not obligatory. Concise yet thoroughly researched, this work remains an important work in contributing to the study of Islamic modesty and dress.
