Automate Mixed-Ink Effects in Illustrator with Graphic Styles

This script automate the creation of multiple Adobe Illustrator Graphic Styles that combine two or three fills (stacked fills with optional overprint) to simulate mixed-ink effects. Each generated style varies one selected fill’s tint across a number of steps, while keeping the other fills at fixed tint values.

What it does:

• Collects CMYK and Spot swatches from the active document.
• Presents a dialog to select base, second (and optional third) colors, their tints, the number of tint steps, which fill should be graduated, and whether to create sample shapes (squares or circles).
• For each step it creates a Graphic Style from that object and names it according to the colors and tints.
• Optionally places a centered grid of sample shapes on the active artboard with the new styles applied (easy to use with the Eyedropper tool).
