With narrow stripes forming channels through dappled flecks of color, these socks put me in mind of the overgrown passages, known locally as ginnels, that crisscross my local landscape. The perfect socks for padding down passages in pursuit of summer adventures!

The Ginnel Socks are shortie socks knit from the cuff down. They are a real celebration of short rows, featuring a short-row heel and toe, plus short-row shaping to gently raise the cuff and prevent them slipping underfoot. Simple stripes and minimal colorwork add fun pops of color! (Alternative instructions for a wedge toe are also included.)

**Sizes**
1 (2, 3, 4, 5) for finished sizes of approx. 6.25 (7, 8, 8.75, 9, 9.75)” [16 (18, 20, 22.5, 25) cm]. Sock length is fully adjustable within pattern.
Choose a finished circumference that is 0-2” (0-5 cm) smaller than your foot size, depending on how snug a fit you like in your handknit socks. Keep in mind that colorwork floats mean your sock may have less give than you are used to

**Yarn**
4ply/fingering weight yarn suitable for socks

This pattern is a great chance to use up partial balls and scraps of sock yarn. The sample is shown in three colors (full details below). For a three-color version, you’ll need between 30-50 grams of Yarn A, 10-15 grams of Yarn B, and 5 grams of Yarn C. But you can of course use a single contrast color or tons of scraps!

Pattern sample knit in Coop Knit Socks Yeah 4ply [75% Fine Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon, 231 yds (212 m) per 50 gram skein], using one skein each of Iolite (Yarn A), Jadeite (Yarn B)
and Lepidolite (Yarn C).
