Real Pebble and Paper Mache Trinket Tray
Listing is for a handmade (by me) trinket or jewelry dish that features real pebbles encased in resin, set against a background of pebbles that have been decoupaged onto the dish (my images). Most of the dish is paper mache which is a lightweight but strong material; there are pieces from antiquity that are hundreds of years old. It is approximately 4 inches in diameter.
The non-resin bottom part has been protected with an exterior-grade satin finish urethane. This and the resin makes the item splash resistant but should never be soaked in water. I have signed it with my maker's mark and the date on the bottom.
The reasons for avoiding clay or concrete to make these in was done for a couple reasons; firstly, I like the idea of using recycled goods, and secondly to cut down on shipping costs. You will find that although it is fairly lightweight it is in fact very sturdy and would easily withstand a fall to the floor from a cabinet top, etc.
