Get to know your students with this First Day of School Student Interest Activity. This resource gives students a simple way to share about themselves, their interests, and their likes and dislikes.

Use this activity at the beginning of the school year, a new semester, a new quarter, or anytime you are welcoming a new group of students. Students can answer the questions on index cards, notebook paper, or another format that works best for your classroom.

One easy option is to have students write their answers on blank index cards. You can keep the cards on hand to create groups, spark conversation, call on students at random, or make personal connections throughout the year.
