Emotional Regulation Worksheets Middle School

Grades 6-8 | The Emotional Playlist

Some students can tell you exactly what happened. They just can't tell you what they were feeling, or why they sent the message before they thought it through.

The Emotional Playlist gives students in grades 6–8 a language they already speak. Six "tracks", worksheet pages, not audio, walk a student from what am I feeling? to What am I going to do about it?

Naming the emotion. Rating the volume. Spotting the trigger.

Separating the facts from the story in their head. Pausing. Then choosing a response that actually fits.

Why counselors and teachers reach for it

A first-session opener. Hand it to the student who says "I don't know, I'm just annoyed" and watch the conversation open up. After a friendship blow-up. Track 05 is built around the moment before they send it, say it, or post it, the exact gap where most of the damage happens.

Advisory, homeroom, or a whole-class SEL block. Works one-to-one or with a group.

A paper trail you can use. The completed sheet shows you the student's thinking, not just their behaviour.

Best for

Grades 6–8, ages 11–14. School counselors, school psychologists, SEL and advisory leads, special education teachers, and middle school homeroom teachers. Also works with older students who need the structure, and at home with a teenager who shuts down when asked "what's wrong?"
