The Friend at Midnight Made Simple
Jesus' parable of the persistent neighbor (Luke 11:5-13) -- a friend who knocks at midnight and will not stop knocking -- teaches us to pray boldly, because the Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask.
The Friend at Midnight Made Simple is a Bible-first walk through Luke 11 and the whole Scripture teaching on persistent prayer: the Lord's Prayer, the Greek word *anaideia* (shameless boldness), "Ask, seek, knock" as three postures of prayer, the Father who gives good gifts, the persistent widow of Luke 18, bold prayers that moved God (Moses, Hannah, Elijah, Jacob), praying in the name of Jesus, the Holy Spirit who intercedes through our groans (Romans 8:26-27), and keeping the midnight watch.
Explicitly Trinitarian: prayer to God the Father, through Jesus Christ -- Son of God and Son of Man, Lord and Savior -- by the Holy Spirit. Deliverance and freedom come only through the Holy Spirit, never by willpower alone.
Read one chapter a day. Come boldly. Keep knocking.
