Pass the Bread

We held a meeting about kindness.

It got a little tense.

We can put a man on the moon, but a fitted sheet still has us cornered. We build bridges, then argue about fences. Apparently, the fence needs its own committee.

Pass the Bread starts with an affectionate laugh at our human contradictions—and makes room for something deeper.

An old man sets out two cups, then puts one away. A neighbor arrives with warm bread. She doesn’t have a speech to fix his grief. She stays and listens.

“You don’t have to be like me

For me to want you there.”

This is a song about welcome, the cost of our certainties, and the small kindnesses we can offer before we’ve figured everything else out.

A little less proving a point.

A little more pulling up a chair.

For neighbors, strangers, old friends, and anyone who could use a place at the table.

Before we try to fix forever—pass the bread.
