   The Key Keepers Pattern Bundle is a great beginner sewist project. With a full TWELVE PATTERNS!

Make as many, or as few as you want. These are great scrap busters. If you are like me, I always have so many scraps that need to be used, and they make great gifts or filler for craft shows! The included SVG files make them a breeze to cut, and so quick to make. The Key Keepers are a wonderful way to dip your toes into using leather and edge paint!

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THE KEY KEEPERS: (FABRIC, HARDWARE, and NOTIONS)

*           MATERIALS - 1/4 yard or 1/4 meter – Leather (3/4/5 oz or heavier, with minimal stretch), Vinyl (0.7 mm or heavier with minimal stretch), Cork, or Kraftex, for the Exteriors of all Key Keepers.

*            OPTIONAL: COORDINATING INTERIOR - 1/8 yard or 1/8 meter – Leather (3/4/5 oz or heavier with minimal stretch), Vinyl (0.7 mm or heavier with minimal stretch), Cork, or Kraftex. For the Interiors of the Key Keepers that it is an option for. (HTV can used on either the Exterior OR Interior layer).

*            KEYRING – up to 14 x 1.25” (3 cm) or bigger diameter Split Keyring. Most Key Keepers need one, but double check with the Cutting and Optional Notions Table (below), and/or Parts and Components sections (above).

*           SNAP SET– up to 7 x 1/2” (12 – 13 mm) diameter Button Snap Set. Glove, Kam, Line, and most others will work. Most Key Keepers need one, but double check with the Cutting and Optional Notions Table (below), and/or Parts and Components sections (above).

NOTE: Magnetic Rivets can be used as well.

*            SCREW in SHACKLE D-Ring or HORESHOE SHAPE D-Ring – up to 5 x 1” (2.5 cm) wide and 1” (2.5 cm) tall Shackles. Some Key Keepers need one or two, but double check with the Cutting and Optional Notions Table (below), and/or Parts and Components sections (above).

NOTE: 3/8 (10 mm) Chicago Screws and Split Keyrings, can be used as well if you do not have Screw in D-Ring(s).

*            CORDING – 2 x 12.5 (32 cm) Lengths of 2 mm diameter Polyester OR Nylon Cord. For the Pouch Style and Slip Style Key Keepers.

*            EYELETS – up to 14 x 3/16” (4.78 mm) diameter Eyelets. Most Key Keepers need 1 or 2, or can use them, but double check with the Cutting and Optional Notions Table (below), and/or Parts and Components sections (above).

*            RIVETS – up to 4 x Rivets. Width and Height can vary. For the Classic Strap Key Keeper.

*            OPTIONAL: 3/4” LOBSTER CLASP – up to 4 x 3/4” (1.9 cm) Lobster Clasp. For the Classic Strap Key Keeper.

*            OPTIONAL: 3/4” D-Ring – up to 4 x 0.75” (1.9 cm) D-Ring. For the Classic Strap Key Keeper.

*            OPTIONAL: EDGE PAINT – Various kinds and colors available.

*           MATCHING NYLON OR POLYESTER THREAD, like Gutermann Mara 70 or Topstitching thread.

  The Key Keepers Patterns are drafted for use with domestic sewing machines. I have a Pfaff Quilt Expressions 710 and Pfaff Quilt Expression 3.5. I try to make things that do not need an industrial machine, even though I have an industrial Juki-DDL8100 eH/x. Test your machine with scraps of different materials to see what it can do!

Please do not post full pictures of the pattern pieces on social media. There are detailed instructions for every technique, along with “TIPS” and plenty of photos. Some of the Key Keepers do not even need to be sewn!
