4. CRI-CON-004 — Conceptual Critique, Definitions and Construct Validity
Description:
This Master Prompt would focus on critically examining the concepts, definitions, terminology, constructs, classifications, and conceptual boundaries used within a research field. It would guide researchers in tracing how central concepts are defined and operationalized, comparing competing definitions, identifying conceptual ambiguity and construct overlap, examining changes in meaning across disciplines or periods, and determining whether empirical measures adequately represent the concepts they claim to investigate.
A major emphasis would be placed on exposing conceptual assumptions that have become normalized without sufficient scrutiny. Researchers would investigate whether dominant definitions privilege particular interpretations while marginalizing alternatives, whether different studies use identical terminology for different phenomena, and whether apparent empirical disagreements are actually consequences of conceptual inconsistency. This is especially important because the uploaded critical-review literature demonstrates that the way researchers conceptualize a phenomenon can determine what becomes analytically visible, normalized, privileged, marginalized, or silenced.
