Lesson 13 - Stepping Back to See the Whole Picture: Learning to Study God's Word for Yourself

Sometimes we need to step back before we can see what all the details mean together.

Lesson 13 teaches students to move from individual observations to the larger message of a passage. Students practice considering the chapter, the book, and Scripture's larger message while asking why a passage is there and what God is communicating through it.

In this lesson, students will:

• Step back from individual details to identify the larger message
• Consider how a passage fits within its chapter and book
• Ask larger questions about purpose and placement
• Practice bringing individual discoveries together into a clear understanding
