This Penguin Chick Art Lesson is a print-and-teach winter resource for Kindergarten to Grade 3. Students create a fluffy penguin chick artwork using guided drawing, oil pastels and paint, and the lesson also includes reading comprehension, writing activities, reflection pages and critical thinking discussions.

Every stage is visually modeled, so young students can follow along and teachers who are not art specialists feel supported. It runs as a multi-day winter lesson that builds vocabulary, comprehension and pride in finished work, and the penguin chick theme connects naturally to winter, animals, families and growing up.

HOW TO USE IT

Teach the art project over a few class periods, then use the literacy and reflection pages to extend the lesson as you like. The structure is predictable, which makes it a good fit for sub plans and homeschool, and the lesson can be reused year after year.

It keeps literacy inside your art block and gives you display-ready winter artwork for January and February.
