Inspired by Vogue pattern 7982 and the iconic designer bag, we present the Workin' Girl pattern.
This pattern bundle is designed to be sewn on a domestic machine using fabric, vinyl, or garment weight leather. We have included both a print and tape file and a two page file for copy shop printing or using with a projector.
The Workin’ Girl bag offers two flap options, angled and straight. The instructions are written for a seven piece hardware set, but alternative suggestions are offered. We have included a free bonus pattern for a bag ornament. Approximate finished bag measurements: 9” tall, 14” wide, 6” deep at the bottom, tapering to less than 2” at the top.
Before purchasing the pattern, the buyer should be familiar with sewing piping, adept at using hardware, and following illustrations. A screen shot of the illustrations is provided for reference.
Additionally, experience with machine settings and needle size for the chosen materials is required. The instructions do not include photographs, but the steps are illustrated. There are no videos. If you find you need videos or require actual photographs of each step, this pattern may not be what you are looking for. While "intermediate" and "advanced" skill levels are subjective, we do not rate this as a beginner pattern. If you have any questions, please ask before purchasing.

Our tests included sewists with various levels of experience as well as non-native English speakers to be sure that the instructions are clear. This listing is NOT for a completed bag. It is a sewing pattern that you will download and print at home.

We cannot overstate the importance of using interfacing as directed. The importance of interfacing deserves its own paragraph. Without it, the bag will be saggy and the flap unsightly.

The interior has a slip pocket and a zippered pocket. You may add or subtract pockets as you wish.
At the end of the instructions, you will find photos and information for further customizing the look of the bag. We suggest that you make bags for personal use if choosing to make a version that looks like an iconic designer bag. There are no refunds on PDF patterns. The terms of use are no sharing the pattern with anyone by any means and please do not manufacture replica bags for retail sale.
