Llama Line Art Lesson Name Art Project Back To School Element of Art Line Art
This Llama Line Art Lesson is a directed drawing art project that brings together name art, line design, pattern drawing and mixed media techniques. Students draw a fluffy llama with a personalized blanket featuring their own name, nickname or initials, then divide the background into sections and fill them with bold line patterns and zen doodle-inspired designs.
It is made for teachers, art teachers and homeschoolers, and it fits back to school art and the first week of school, though it works any time of year. The steps give students strong visual direction, while color, pattern and lettering choices make each finished llama their own. A class set makes a bright, welcoming wall display.

HOW TO USE IT
The 30 page tutorial walks students through drawing the llama's ear, hair, snout, eye, neck and fluffy fur, then the body, tail, legs, feet and blanket. Students add their name in bubble or block lettering, draw a border, trace with black felt marker, erase pencil lines, shade the llama with wax crayon, color the blanket and details, and fill the background with line art and zen doodle patterns.
Along the way students practice the Element of Art: Line, pattern, shape, space, texture, color, form and value, plus lettering, craftsmanship, following visual directions and self-reflection. Materials: pencil, eraser, black felt marker, washable felt markers, cardstock or watercolor paper, wax crayons, a paint brush and water.
