THIS IS THE AGENCY OF ONE PREVIEW ONLY!

It is a limited selection of content from the larger Workbook.

You know you should be marketing your art. This is the plan.

You've started before, usually after a slow month. It faded somewhere around week two, when the deadlines came back or the feed stopped feeling worth it. Nearly every working artist has been there, and what's usually missing is a plan.

The Agency of One is a 30-day workbook that walks you through building your own marketing plan, the way an agency would build one for a paying client. Twenty minutes a day. One page per day. Every page ends with something written down, and every day comes with an example page showing how five working artists, from a pet portraitist to a brush and class maker, filled it in.

It's built for artists who sell their work to fans and collectors: prints, originals, limited editions, books, merch, and crowdfunding campaigns.

By Day 30, you'll have:

  • A marketing plan on one page, built from your own numbers
  • A clear picture of your collector, and the path that turns a casual fan into one
  • An email list that's yours, with a welcome sequence already running
  • A content routine you can keep up, even in a busy month
  • A real campaign you planned, launched, and measured yourself

How the 30 days work

  • Week One, The Brief: your goals, an audit of what you already have, your product line, your collector, and your one sentence.
  • Week Two, The Strategy: your offer ladder, your real margins, the channels worth your time, a 90-day goal, and your message.
  • Week Three, The Creative: your website, your email list and welcome emails, your content pillars and calendar, and outreach to the channels your fans already trust.
  • Week Four, The Campaign: plan, launch, and debrief one real promotion, start to finish.
  • The Close: a twenty-minute weekly routine that keeps it all running, and your finished one-page plan.

Bonuses inside

  • The Margin Calculator: every cost of getting a piece into a buyer's hands, not just materials and time
  • The Script File: nine templates to adapt, from feature pitches to launch emails and collector early access
  • The Content Idea Bank: 52 prompts, a year of weekly posts
  • The Launch Checklist: Week Four on one page, for every campaign after this one
  • The Seven-Day Agency: a quickstart for weeks when thirty days won't happen
  • Printables: your plan on one page, a 90-day calendar, and the Weekly Twenty card

Who it's for

Working artists, especially in fantasy, sci-fi, and games, who sell their own work and have never had a real marketing plan. Writers and musicians can use it too: read "collectors" as your most devoted readers or fans.

What to expect

No going viral required. No paid-ads course. No pretending to love self-promotion. The workbook can't promise a number of sales, and it isn't business, legal, or financial advice. What it will do is replace guesswork with a plan you wrote yourself, built on what's true for you and sized to the hours you actually have.

About Jon

Jon Schindehette has worked on both sides of selling art. As a senior art director, including a long stretch hiring artists for Dungeons & Dragons, he decided who got the next assignment. As a marketing director and director of eCommerce, he built the campaigns, email programs, and online stores that sold the work. He founded ArtOrder, a blog and community that helped artists break into SFF illustration, and today he writes Notes From The Field, a newsletter on marketing for working artists.

FAQ

How much time does it take?

About twenty minutes a day for thirty days. A couple of setup days, like starting your email list, may run longer, and the workbook tells you when. Prefer weekdays only? You'll finish in about six weeks.

What if I miss a day?

No restarts and no catching up. Just pick up the next day in the book. The workbook is built for real schedules.

I haven't sold much yet. Is it too early?

No. If you're just starting out, you'll work with your followers and the fans who've shown interest, and build the path before the crowd arrives.

Do I need a website or an email list first?

No. Week Three walks you through both, and free tools are enough to start.

Do I have to spend money on ads or software?

No. The plan is built to work on free tools. Day 14 helps you decide what, if anything, is worth paying for.

Is it only for fantasy and sci-fi artists?

The examples lean that way, but the method works for any artist selling their own work.

Can I fill it in on my tablet?

Yes. Every blank in the workbook is a fillable field, so you can type straight into it in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview on a Mac, or most PDF apps on a tablet. Save as you go. Prefer paper? It prints cleanly too.
