The Art of Songwriting was written by the School of Contemporary Pop and Jazz fifty years ago but remains the best course that I have encountered in my life. I have a degree in music also. I was asked to not let this course die by the founders wife after the School had closed down due to death.. The Diploma and the course is recognised by the mainstream authorities on music. It cuts out the fluff and gets down to learning the devices of music plus it has lessons on lyrical knowledge to enhance criteria. It deals with hundreds of songs for examples which builds up the repertoire of the students preparing them for work within the industry along with guidance and practical help for the student's own original songs preparing them for the industry on many levels.
