And Yet… — 30 Therapeutic Metaphors for Uncertainty, Change, and Moving Forward
What if a story could help you see something differently — without telling you what to think?
And Yet… is a collection of 30 therapeutic metaphors exploring uncertainty, change, loss, hope, boundaries, self-perception, and the quiet ways we learn to move forward.
Through images of narrow windows, mirrors, stones, armour, empty chairs, unfinished maps, broken bridges, lighthouses, and doors, these stories invite you to approach familiar struggles from a new angle — without simple answers, and without prescribing how life should be lived.
The book is divided into five parts:
- How we see the world
- What we carry
- How we make space for ourselves
- What happens when life does not go as planned
- How we continue when the future remains uncertain
Each metaphor is followed by gentle reflection questions for those who want to stay with the story a little longer. A final section offers additional perspectives for therapists, counsellors, coaches, and others who work with stories — including possible therapeutic directions and points of sensitivity.
Some stories may speak to you immediately. Others may stay quietly in the background and return later. You do not have to find the "correct" meaning.
