Have you ever gone shopping in Japan as a vegan? It can be quite a challenge here, as the "vegan-label" is not very common yet and the ingredient list for processed foods can also be quite long.
And to top that off: all ingredients are usually written in Japanese! A whole new level of "checking ingredients as a vegan", which can be so time consuming and nerve wrecking...Β
Therefore I created a list of the most common animal ingredients in Japanese for you to hopefully ease your next shopping trip! 😊

This is how the List is build up:
πŸ‘‰πŸ»English term (in alphabetical order)
πŸ‘‰πŸ» the reading in romaji (so you can say the word if needed)
πŸ‘‰πŸ»the most common way it is written as an ingredient in Japanese (usually Kanji or Katakana)
πŸ‘‰πŸ» I also added the hiragana to some words, just in case.

The list covers: meat, dairy products, fish/crustaceans and miscellaneous additives
