Psychological Safety at Work
sychological safety gets mistaken for being nice, and the mistake is expensive — a floor where nobody wants to upset anyone is exactly where the fault nobody mentioned becomes the incident everybody remembers. Safety is narrower and harder than kindness: it is whether the person who found the problem will say so.
This course runs the decisions that build it or break it — how you react when someone brings you a mistake, whether you say out loud that the work is new and you need input, whether you sort what kind of failure it actually was before you decide what to do with the person who brought it to you.
You will practise:
- Telling psychological safety apart from being nice, from your own manner, and from a lower bar
- Naming what keeps someone quiet — fear, resignation, or not wanting to be the one who stands out
- Setting the stage: saying the work is new, saying you need input, saying where you got it wrong yourself
- Sorting what kind of failure it was before you decide what to do with it, and with the person who brought it
