Games and Practices for the Foundation Phase

This book contains a collection of favourite games, activities and practices that have been compiled over the last eight years working in the foundation phase. They have come from a variety of sources; self designed, from coaches that I work(ed) with, coach education courses & CPD and from various online sources where the games have been adapted to suit the needs of the players I work with.

These games have formed a regular part of sessions; they are core games. I tend to use similar practices where players understand the rules and conditions, saving explanation time and providing opportunity to layer the learning each time we revisit an activity. I encourage you to try the games out, to tweak and modify them and to find the best fit for the players you work with. I’m sure the players will let you know if they enjoy the games or not!
