Sullivan Fortner: Don't You Worry 'bout a Thing (Solo Game, 2023)
Sullivan Fortner is one of the very best contemporary pianists, and everyone loves this Stevie Wonder song: nothing can go wrong here!
I can affirm it: Sullivan Fortner is the most difficult musician I have had to transcribe (more than Martial Solal or Art Tatum, that's saying something!) I spent several weeks on this transcription, wondering about each measure (which hand plays which note? how to write the score so that it is clear and readable?)… I had a hard time choosing the right key signature: Ebm seemed natural, but the Cb and Fb bothered me… BM didn't work either. I ended up choosing no key, and alternated between flats and sharps. Hope it works for you!
I am not surprised that Glenn Zaleski managed to make a 25-minute video on the first 20 seconds of this piece: each measure is a masterpiece, a fireworks, a kaleidoscope!
Let me know if you want to play this piece, and good luck to you!
