You have the right to hold your baby immediately after birth — before weighing, bathing, injections, or examinations.
This sacred bonding moment helps stabilize your baby’s breathing, temperature, heart rate, and emotional connection.
🔗 Right to Delay Cord Clamping
Early cord clamping can deprive your newborn of up to one-third of their blood volume.
You have every right to delay clamping until:
- Pulsation stops
- Blood flow naturally ceases
- You give explicit consent
🩸 Right to Keep Your Placenta
Your placenta is YOUR property.
You have the legal right to:
- Take it home
- Preserve it
- Encapsulate it
- Perform cultural, spiritual, or traditional practices
- Prevent the hospital from keeping or disposing of it
This must be stated clearly in your birth plan and verbally reinforced during labor.
