Kitson Scam Warning Signs: Spot Red Flags in Suspicious Messages

Spot common warning signs in a suspicious text, email or message.

WHAT IT DOES

Paste one suspicious message. You'll see which common scam warning signs it shows (pressure, requests for money or codes, impersonation, too-good-to-be-true offers, links to open). It never says a message is safe; when in doubt, contact the company or person another way you already trust. You can download the results as a spreadsheet (CSV).

HOW IT WORKS

A small app that runs on your computer and opens in your browser. The checking is done by Jev, a fast decision model from TypeSafe AI, using your own API key. Counting and totals are done by the app itself.

WHAT YOU NEED

- Windows, Mac or Linux- Free Node.js 18+- Your own API key from TypeSafe (console.typesafe.ai; may have a waitlist) or from Vercel AI Gateway- You pay your provider for use. At TypeSafe's launch price a typical check costs about a thousandth of a cent; prices can change.

PRIVACY

The text you check is sent to TypeSafe (or through Vercel, if you choose) under their terms, after the app removes email addresses, phone numbers and card-like numbers. This is not an offline app. Your key stays on your computer.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

The app (zip), start files for Windows/Mac/Linux, and a README with step-by-step setup, including how to get a key. Not affiliated with TypeSafe AI or Vercel.

HONEST LIMITS

Showing no warning signs does NOT mean a message is safe. Verify through a phone number or website you already trust. This app points out warning signs; it cannot prove a message is safe or a scam. Never rely on it alone. If you think you've been scammed, contact your bank and report it (in the US, reportfraud.ftc.gov).

Refunds aren't given because automated answers weren't perfect or for a change of mind after use.
