Drums By Numbers

Drums By Numbers - a collection of drum rhythms using numbers alongside music notation. During my teaching practice I have found these to be very accessible for beginner pupils as well as those with SEND conditions. Students begin with the number patterns and most eventually make the correlation with the notation and can work with either.

The rhythms and strategies used in this book have been developed over many years during drumming sessions with hundreds of students in schools. A significant number of these students had difficulties with learning in the school environment and many were eventually diagnosed as needing extra support.

The Drums By Numbers teaching has been instantly understood by students starting the drums. It has also been very effective for students with dyslexia (which is often diagnosed years after starting lessons). The teaching method has also proved to be very accessible for students with autism, ADHD and dyspraxia.
