Pip's Puzzle Advent Calendar: 24 Printable Christmas Puzzles for Kids + Secret Message, Certificate & Answer Key
Swap the chocolate for something that lasts longer than ten seconds. Pip's Puzzle Advent Calendar is 24 printable Christmas puzzles, one for each day from December 1 to Christmas Eve, with a secret message hidden inside them.
How it works: Pip the elf has a Christmas message for your child, but Snoop the snow weasel reads all the North Pole mail. So Pip hides the message one letter a day, inside a puzzle. Each answer has one starred letter, and your child copies it onto the Message Board on the fridge. The boxes aren't in date order, so the message stays a surprise until the very last days.
What's inside (32-page PDF):
- 24 daily puzzle pages, each with a short story from Pip
- The Message Board, plus a 'colour in a door' tracker
- A Christmas Eve letter from Pip
- A 'Master Code-Cracker' certificate
- A note for grown-ups and a full answer key
The puzzles: number codes, a maze, a word search, missing vowels, math code, mirror writing, a line-and-dot code, counting, jingle (Morse) code, a riddle, tangled reins, a map grid, a shift code, spot the difference, a letter sudoku, a snowflake code, odd one out, a logic puzzle, dot-to-dot, a mini crossword, count by twos, an every-other-letter puzzle and a final Christmas Eve lock that uses everything learned along the way.
Most puzzles take 10 to 20 minutes. Every page has an upside-down hint at the bottom, so nobody gets stuck. Older children can usually work alone; younger ones will love doing it with a helper.
Print at home in colour or black and white, all at once or the night before each day. US Letter size. You'll need pencils, and a mirror for December 7.
