About This Album

Vella Gay Fisha is a collection of songs born straight out of my childhood. I grew up Amish, with Pennsylvania Dutch as my first language, in a world where music wasn’t something we were allowed to listen to—yet it was something I always felt inside me. These songs are my way of reconnecting with those roots: the humor, the hard work, the quiet moments, the stories, and the language that shaped who I am.

This is my first full album written entirely in Pennsylvania Dutch. Each track reflects a piece of the life I knew growing up—sometimes serious, sometimes playful, always honest. If you’ve lived this culture, I hope it feels familiar. If you haven’t, I hope it gives you a window into a world that’s usually kept quiet.
