Guadalupe, Millenary River of Light & Mirror | PDF
What if the image of Guadalupe is a message?
This is not a book for scholars, given its accessible and engaging style, although it contains more details about the devotion than you are likely to find in any other book on Guadalupe.
It presents the Virgin's message as a unified whole in which the latter cannot be understood without the former, and the modern era without its historical roots, from Queen Esther in 474 BC in Persia, the Evangelist Saint Luke's art workshop, Pope Saint Gregory the Great and the Plague of 591 in Rome, the brothers Saints Isidore and Leander in Hispalis (Seville), the apparitions of 1326 to Don Gil, the Guadalupe title and monastery in Extremadura, to the apparitions of 1531 to Saint Juan Diego in Mexico.
Nor does it forget to look to the future, with the Woman of the Apocalypse shining as a beacon of light and hope. Almost three thousand citations from Holy Scripture are woven into the text, whilst still making for an enjoyable read. They substantiate every insight and argument, and uncover the prophetic role of Tharsis and a Male Child who is to rule the nations with an iron rod.
The style is descriptive, yet it goes beyond the specific history and art, for it uncovers underlying messages that challenge the reader whilst compelling them to reread the text to better assimilate what has already been read. It is a book for learning, but also for reflection and prayer, offering many new and incredible teachings and insights.
Among these, the symbolic analysis stands out: that of the stars from as many as 35 constellations projected onto the tilma; of the temporal signs indicated by the planets on the Virgin's mantle and aura; of the doctrinal message concerning the restoration of all things (Acts 3:21); the spiritual message conveyed by the sacred little house with eight sunflowers amongst its golden ornaments, each of which faces the sun differently according to its position; the prophetic message concerning the male child she is to give birth to (Revelation 12:5), with the temporal clues for understanding the prophecy of the seventy weeks (Daniel 9:24-27).
This book invites you to look again at an image that contains far more than meets the eye. You may have been looking at Guadalupe all your life, without yet seeing the whole message.
