This vintage oval keepsake box w/ decorative brass sunburst inlay features a segmented bone or horn exterior.

The interior is lined in a deep purple velvet material, and the hinged lid opens and closes properly w/ the brass owl clasp.

Exact age and origin are unknown, but the popular vote says around the 1970s.

Notice the natural variations, darkening, and surface ware to the bone, is only consistent w/ age.
