The Ninth Gate is an all-instrumental synthwave/darkwave album composed by Gabriela Gomes. The album consists of 14 tracks built around synthesizers, electronic rhythms, and layered instrumental arrangements, with no vocal performances.

The concept of the album draws inspiration from Inferno, the first part of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. It follows themes of descent, confinement, and a journey through a nightmarish setting. The project can also be interpreted alongside the journey of John Winters, a fictional character from the book Bloodlines - Break the Chains, connecting literary influence with an original narrative.

The artwork, designed by Tim Sutherland, reflects the intended concept. He captured the visual direction as requested, presenting an abandoned, desolate environment associated with entrapment and hopelessness. The design conveys fear, isolation, and a sense of damnation consistent with the album’s concept.
