These 2 potholders were created as an intro to the overlay mosaic crochet technique made with the continuous method, which allows you to do this type of crochet in rows without cutting the yarn at the end of each row. These potholders are a great training to then make That Blue One with Sashiko bag.

The projects were first developed for a workshop, one of a series of 3 in-person workshops held at Academia das Talicas in 2024 in Portuguese, each introducing a particular type of stitch or method used in overlay mosaic crochet.

This booklet is a translation and adaptation of the original one offered to the people who participated in that workshop. It's in English and uses US terms. The pdf includes links to video-tutorials and step-by-step instructions available on my Substack, Unfinished Object. It also includes instructions and tips about finishing touches (how to make the loop to hang the potholders, and how to make and sew the backing to make them thicker).

The potholders are made in medium weight cotton yarn with a 3mm hook (you can also use a 3.5mm without much difference; it all depends on your tension!). The yarn originally used for the workshops was Rosários4 Re-Use, and a ball of each colour (seen on the navy blue potholder) is more than enough to make both models.

Disclosure for the sake of transparency: the pdf file is also available as a free download on my Substack publication, Unfinished Object, with an invitation to pay what you can or feel it's worth, before or after trying it out. You can learn more about it and find it here.
