Calculate the value of CAT

This excel spreadsheet allows you to calculate an 'educated guess' on the value an event or gathereing of people generates, with and without CAT. Fill out the green cells and see the results for your conference, sales meeting, etc.

Use it critically and stay vigilant so you make sure you fully grasp it before using it in front of someone else. It is not exact science, but when we spend so much on an event, should we not at least try to calculate the value of more or less networking?

There are several research reports available (scientific and industry based) that share the financial value of a good contact. Several have been selected in the book Perfect Strangers.

You can do this for yourself, or, after you have done a few on your own, you could use it in a presentation to a board, or committee… In that case, make sure the group comes up with the numbers themselves. So they understand and accept or contextualise the results.
