This was inspired by a similar project that I came across (called the Tabletop Tannenbaum) that required an expensive heat activated batting to make. The concept is pretty much the same, involving several layers of quilted fabric trees to be sewn together (the original project requires twice as many panels) with the result that when fanned out, it stands up on its own. I loved the look, but could not justify the cost of the supplies, so I decided to come up with my own version, one that can fold down flat for storage when not in use.

The can be made in whatever size you want, although the included template is for a tree that finishes out to approximately 11” (28cm) tall. Not just for Christmas, this is suitable for decorative purposes across all seasons.

Materials required: 6 pieces of fabric to match template, 3 pieces of fusible fleece to match template & 3 pieces of Decor Bond or other medium weight interfacing to match template. (If using supplied template and non-directional fabric, can be done with three fat quarters.)
