A cosy and slightly relaxed fit beanie with a big turn up hem. The easy and interesting colouwork pattern is inspired by the setts that form the Roman road in the castleshaw valley, where the soldiers from across the Roman Empire once marched, far from their homes. You can still see the trace of the road running across the fields, drier than the surrounding grass.
The pattern was designed for the Castleshaw Yarn, produced from the Dorset and Ryeland Sheep that live in the valley. A truly sustainable yarn, spun in Yorkshire and dyed from natural dyes here in the valley. It's a very bouncy woollen spun DK weight - with an open 3 ply light twist, made to feel like wearing a cloud.
