This Winter Roll and Draw Art Game turns drawing into a game. Students roll a dice to decide each part of their drawing, so they create unique winter characters and designs every time they play.

It combines the structure of directed drawing with the fun of a game, and suits elementary classrooms, art lessons and homeschool families. Students build confidence, experiment with ideas and practice drawing skills, working on their own or with a partner.

HOW IT WORKS

Students roll a dice, find their number on the Roll and Draw chart, and draw the matching feature on their page. Each drawing is built in four steps, so students roll four times to finish their character or object. With so many possible combinations, every artwork turns out different.

Use the activities one at a time or print them as a complete Roll and Draw booklet. They fit winter art lessons, early finishers, indoor recess, sub plans, winter centers and drawing skill practice.

What art materials can students use?

Crayons, colored pencils, markers, oil pastels, watercolor paints or tempera paint. You can assign one medium or let students choose.

How many times do students roll?

Four times per drawing, one roll for each step.

Can students work with a partner?

Yes. The activities work for independent or partner work.

Is there a way to assess the work?

Yes. A Roll and Draw rubric and a student reflection page are included.
