Risps by @therispguy is SUCH a good set of resources.

Richard Perring

The zipped Risps resource consists of a PDF eBook zipped together with with associated files.

The associated files consist of

·      3 Geogebra files (.ggb)

·      2 Excel files without macros (.xlsx), and

·      4 Excel files with macros (.xlsm)

All these files are here combined into a single zip file which enables you to download all of the files in one go.

There is little danger with some of these file types, but…

computers rightly regard some downloaded files with suspicion, especially Excel files with macros.

Installing and using Risps

If you have a Windows computer:

Create a folder on your computer called Risps

Make this folder a Trusted Location by opening a blank Excel file and going to:

File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Locations

Add your new Risps folder as a Trusted Location.

Now download the risp-files.zip file from this page on Payhip

Locate this on your machine: it will normally be in your Downloads folder.

Copy the zip file into your Risps folder and extract it there.

Now open the Risps PDF eBook from within your folder.

The associated files should then run without problems via links within the eBook.

If you have an Apple Mac:

Create a folder on your computer called Risps

Now download the risp-files.zip file from this page on Payhip

Locate this on your machine: it will normally be in your Downloads folder.

Copy the zip file into your Risps folder and double-click it to extract the files.

Now open the Risps PDF eBook from within your folder.

The associated files should then run without problems via links within the eBook.

If Excel gives you a warning about macros, you may need to allow the macros to run.

In Excel for Mac, go to: Excel → Settings → Security and check the Macro Security settings.

For security, it is preferable to have Excel warn you about macros

and then enable them when you open an Risp file that you trust,

rather than allowing all macros automatically.

There is an alternative to using the zipped file:

you don't have to download all the associated files at once.

You can simply download the Risp PDF eBook,

and then download the associated files from the Internet as and when you need them.

The eBook gives you an unzipped option and an Internet option for each file whenever one is available.

On Windows, Excel files containing macros will still need to be in a

Trusted Location in order for the macros to run without being blocked.

On Mac, you may need to allow macros to run

when you open an Excel file that contains them.

If you still have trouble, searching the Internet for

‘Security and Excel macros’ (Windows) or ‘Security and Excel macros on Mac’

should provide helpful and up-to-date advice.

All code for my macros is password protected.

You will get a ZIP (11MB) file
